A student of yoga since 1985,
Cathy Harmon earned a 500-hour Yoga teacher certification in 2004 from Irene and Bill Beer of Namaste International.  In August 2009, Cathy completed training with Joseph and and Lillian LePage and Maria KaliMa of Integrative Yoga Therapy earning 500-hour Professional Yoga Therapist certificate. Recognizing and supporting Yoga as an established therapy, Cathy is also a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, IAYT.org

Cathy teaches yoga that is inspired by the work of Vanda Scaravelli, author of Awakening the Spine.  Cathy is fortunate to have studied with Irene Beer, Diane Long and the late Esther Myers, who all were Vanda's students.

Classes with Cathy are light-hearted and compassionate. "I want people to feel good in their bodies," she says. 

Cathy has also studied with Mukunda Stiles, author of Structural Yoga Therapy, and Judith Lasater, well-known for Relax and Renew, the definitive guide to Restorative yoga.  Cathy certified as a Relax and Renew Trainer in 2008. See RestorativeYogaTeachers.com

Health and movement have long been
 important to Cathy.  In the 1980's, she earned an instructor-level rank in the martial art of Lung Gung Fa Kung Fu ~ the Dragon Forever Learning.  Cathy is proud of achieving the Kung Fu ranking, as it required completing a 17-mile survival run in addition to the traditional testing on forms. Cathy taught Kung Fu classes and also was an instructor with Jackie Sorenson's Aerobic Dancing during the time she lived in Southern California.Cathy practicing yoga at home.

Cathy holds a B.S. and M.A. in Secondary Education; she taught high school English and Remedial Reading
