Qi Gong

“The prescription-less medication”

This ancient health care system -- a bit difficult to pronounce -- it’s chee goong (also frequently written as Qigong or ch’i kung) -- is the art of mindful exercise and energy movement with a purpose.  It integrates focused breathing techniques, specific physical postures and a focused, stated intention to enhance, release, restore and circulate one’s life energy. 

Qi (or 'chi’) refers to one’s vital life energy force.  Gong (or 'kung’) refers to one’s skills or accomplishments gained through regular practice of an exercise.

Qi Gong together, then, refers to any mindful practice whose intention is to enhance, release, restore, free, circulate, calm, balance and center one’s personal life energy.

Qi Gong is peaceful....

Qi Gong is gentle.....


 

 


 

 

                       The Mind/Body connection cannot be denied!

Seated or standing, mobile or not, Qi Gong can be practiced, to your ability level, to enhance your circulation, relieve stress, reduce anxiety, calm your body’s systems, bring about balance and a feeling of being grounded, centered. 

Qi Gong involves simple exercises incorporating slow, relaxed, gentle body movements, focused breathing techniques and mental visualization to create energy and circulate it throughout the physical body.   This repetitive movement allows you to release tension, relax your mind and promote healing, as your body’s ‘relaxation response’ is activated.

Known as ‘the prescription-less medicine’ in China, Qi Gong has been found to speed one’s recovery from illness, injury or surgery, improve circulatory, digestive, lymphatic, respiratory and cardiovascular functioning, as well as alleviate pain, increase stamina, strengthen the immune system and generally enhance one’s overall health and well-being.                                  

As we use no props and need no special equipment or clothing, Qi Gong is a practice that is safe and available for you -- whenever and wherever you are ready.
