Supported (Restorative) Yoga
restore - to renew; to rebuild; to bring back to a former or original state
Supported Yoga, or Restorative Yoga, includes a variety of nurturing positions based on traditional yoga poses. In a restorative class or workshop, we use props--bolsters, blocks, sandbags, belts, and blankets--to fully support the body, allowing deep physical and mental release.
If you can get yourself onto the floor, you can practice Supported Yoga!
Our Restorative Yoga instructor, Cathy Harmon, is certified by Judith Lasater as a Relax and Renew Trainer. Each Restorative class gives the body the opportunity to heal, renew, open, and move toward balance. Chronic stress is a constant state for many people. Restorative Yoga is a healthy antidote to stressful lives.
In Restorative Yoga we explore various supported backbends, forward and side-bends, twists and even supported inversions, meeting the body where it is and offering the option to un-do and to let go.
Supported Yoga is appropriate for any fitness level--no flexibility is needed nor is any prior yoga experience necessary.
Join us for 75-minute Relax & Renew classes-- just one "punch" on your card or a drop-in fee.
More in-depth Restorative Yoga Workshops are offered periodically, giving you the opportunity to deepen your understanding and practice of supported postures. (See schedule)
Come see how good your body can feel! Reluctant spouses welcome, too.
...restorative poses are for those times when you feel weak, fatigued, or stressed from your daily activities. They are especially beneficial for the times before, during, and after major life events: death of a loved one, change of job or residence, marriage, divorce, major holidays, and vacations..."
